My Red Bud Tree

This little beauty is fifteen years old. I planted it with love and nurtured it carefully. This spring is the first time it has blossomed. It rewarded me well. What took it so long to blossom? I did everything a gardener needs to do. I also placed a fence around it to guard it from the deer. Last spring, frustrated with a horde of hybrid poplar taking over the planting area, I removed several of the poplar trees. This tree is similar to a shark. It creates babies and sends them everywhere to eat and destroy all other vegetation. When I cut down the hybrid poplar, my little red bud sprang to life. Well, what do you know. Writing can work much like gardening. It takes trial and error to put the pieces together. And then one day, you've got a best-selling novel.
